What installer certification means
The scheme requires a certified installer to apply. Certification is a gate for the application. It is not a review of the quote by this website.
Key takeaways
- The installer applies, so they have to be allowed to.
- Ask for the certification and check it on the register yourself.
- We do not use the scheme logo and we do not republish the register.
Why it is required
Ofgem’s property owner pages say the heating installer must be certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme and can claim the grant for you. Without that, there is no application. The product standards sit with that certification system too.
We name the scheme because the rule is unintelligible without the name. We do not imply we are part of it, and we do not show its logo.
How to check
Ask the installer for the name they are registered under and look it up on the public register before you pay a deposit. A certificate for a different technology, or a lapsed listing, is a reason to pause.
We have not copied the register onto this site. Its data terms need to be read before any installer directory is built, and county pages will wait until there is a real local installer behind them.
What certification does not mean
It does not mean the quote is the cheapest, or that Ofgem has pre-approved your house. It does not mean this website has vetted the firm. A certified installer can still be refused if the property fails a rule.
If they cannot get the grant, ask for the refusal reason. Do not let a deposit depend on an assumption.
