What a heat pump quote must contain
A useful quote names the heat pump, the grant category, the discount, and the work that is extra. A single all-in number is not enough.
Key takeaways
- The grant should be a deduction, with the category named.
- Extras such as radiators and a cylinder should be visible.
- You should be able to see that you will own the system.
The lines
Ask for the make and model, the type (air-to-water, ground source or air-to-air), and the grant amount the installer intends to apply for. That amount should match a row you can find on the values notice: for example oil and air-to-water inside the window, not a round number they invented.
The customer balance, the VAT treatment they are using, and what is excluded should be on the same document. We do not publish a VAT rate on this site.
Red flags
A hybrid described as fully funded. A grant that is higher than the category. A request to pay a large deposit before anyone has visited. A promise that Ofgem has already agreed when no application exists. Pressure to sign because the uplift ends, without a survey date.
Certification matters because the installer has to be allowed to apply. See what certification means. We do not rank installers and we do not display a certification logo.
Quotes through this site
The quote page emails this site. Until a named installer is signed, we do not pass your details on. When that changes, the consent box will name them and it will start unticked.
Compare at least two quotes that both include a survey. The readiness checklist is there so you know your fuel and your ownership before the first visit.
