This checker and the scheme page
The checker reads published categories. It does not see your property, and it does not approve a grant.
Key takeaways
- No login, because we do not ask for a scheme account.
- We follow the values notice when a summary page is less specific.
- Approval happens after the installer applies.
What you can do here
Answer country, ownership, current heating, property type, heat pump and new build. The page returns a category amount or a stop: ask your landlord, check a new build, hybrids refused, or a link out of England and Wales. The cost tool then shows a typical air-to-water balance.
Nothing is stored from the checker. You can change an answer and the result updates in the browser.
What the scheme page can do
Ofgem holds the application the installer submits. It can ask for evidence, audit the job and pay or refuse the grant. GOV.UK publishes the consumer summary and the legal values. Those pages are the sources. This site links to them and does not copy their branding.
If our wording and a source disagree, the source wins and we correct the page. The corrections page is there for that.
A sensible order
Use the checker to see the likely category. Read the matching fuel page. Look at the cost range. Then talk to a certified installer and read their quote against what a quote must contain.
Stop if anyone tells you the checker result is an approval. It is not.
